Doha – Presiden terpilih Indonesia untuk periode 2024-2029 Prabowo Subianto bersama wakil presiden terpilih Gibran Rakabuming Raka menghadiri Forum Ekonomi Qatar di Doha, Rabu (15/4/2024).
Dalam kesempatan tersebut, Prabowo sebagai salah satu narasumber, ditanya mengenai gaya kepemimpinannya ke depan. Prabowo menegaskan bahwa dia akan tetap menjadi dirinya sendiri demi kesejahteraan rakyat Indonesia.
“I will be myself sincerely. That means being faithful to principles, values, and aspirations as a patriot. My main value is the welfare of my people. My people must be safe, not hungry, and must have a good life. That is the dream of every patriot in every country in the world,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo further emphasized that the fact that he has served in the military will not affect his policies, including regarding democracy in his leadership.
“You know, I have been out of the military for more than 25 years. So, in my opinion, what you call military-related issues are irrelevant, they have nothing to do with anything,” Prabowo said firmly.
“And about democracy, why not ask the Indonesian people? I have participated in election contests four times and asked for the approval of the Indonesian people three times. They did not approve of me. This time they gave their approval. Where is the concern for democracy? In my opinion, this is made up by a handful of people. So I will work very hard not to disappoint my people. The legacy we want to leave is a good name, a good name in the history of our country,” Prabowo added, followed by applause from the audience.
He said his desire to serve is based on sincerity to improve the welfare of the Indonesian people. He wants to contribute with his insights and experience in leadership.
“I was raised in many countries and I saw many of them were very poor. In my heart, I cannot accept that in this day and age. Indonesia is a G20 member. Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world. Many of my fellow citizens are still living very, very difficult lives. And that is what drives me. I want to do my part. I want to contribute with my insights and experiences in my leadership. I am confident I can contribute a lot to improve the lives of my people,” Prabowo concluded.
