The Indonesian students studying in Singapore were deeply moved by the presence of President Prabowo Subianto at Singapore’s National Day celebrations on August 9th. Meeting the President made them feel a strong connection to their homeland, reminiscent of being back in Indonesia. Belinda, Donata, Daniel, and Ardi, students from the Singapore Institute of Management, were among those who had the opportunity to interact directly with President Prabowo. This encounter was more than just a casual meeting; it served as a touching reminder of their national identity. Meeting their country’s leader while abroad brought a sense of home to foreign soil for them.
Belinda expressed, “This is such a memorable experience—it made me feel so much closer to home, especially in the context of Singapore’s National Day Parade and meeting Pak Prabowo.” The students were grateful for the chance to meet and shake hands with President Prabowo and members of the Kabinet Merah Putih in attendance. Donata shared, “I’m really happy to have the chance to meet Pak Prabowo again. I met him before, but never this closely.” Another student mentioned, “This is such a rare opportunity to meet the President in person—especially as this is the first time in my life I’ve ever met a President.” The students were truly appreciative of the experience and found it to be a memorable moment.
