President Prabowo Subianto has set a bold target to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) to reach 82.9 million children throughout Indonesia by the end of 2025. During the 27th anniversary celebration of the National Awakening Party (PKB) at the Jakarta Convention Center, he emphasized the importance and urgency of this initiative on a national scale.
Sharing a heartfelt experience from his recent trip to Central Java, Prabowo described the overwhelming demand for the program. He recounted a moment where schoolchildren and locals along his route from Solo to Klaten pleaded for nutritious meals, highlighting the critical need for such support.
Moved by the encounter, Prabowo directed his team to expedite the program, aiming to reach 20 million children by mid-August. The objective is to ensure that public funds are managed efficiently, with proper training for kitchen staff to maximize resources.
This massive effort has garnered international attention, with other countries expressing interest in learning from Indonesia’s approach. Prabowo expressed determination to achieve the ambitious goal of reaching 82.9 million beneficiaries by December 2025, surpassing the accomplishments of other nations in a shorter timeframe.
