Presidential Communication Office (PCO) highlighted the positive outcomes of President Prabowo Subianto’s diplomatic missions to various countries. These efforts have resulted in the signing of numerous memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and significant investment commitments from partner nations. Senior Expert at the PCO, Philips J. Vermonte, shared that within a year of President Prabowo taking office, 71 MoUs with 13 countries have been secured, along with investment commitments totaling almost IDR 800 trillion from four countries. This diplomatic outreach aims to open access to new markets and enhance Indonesia’s economic diplomacy. During a public discussion organized by the Patriotic Millennial Movement (GEMPITA), Philips cited Indonesia’s recent entry into BRICS as a strategic move to expand markets amidst global uncertainty. He clarified that Indonesia’s participation in BRICS does not signify an anti-Western or anti-American stance but rather aims to strengthen relations with major global economies. Furthermore, Deputy Foreign Minister Arif Havas Oegroseno highlighted Indonesia’s efforts to reduce import tariffs, emphasizing the country’s commitment to trade diplomacy based on national interests. He urged the public to consider data before making assumptions and not to overreact to trade policy discussions.
