European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen commended Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for his leadership in successfully concluding the negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Indonesia and the European Union. The two leaders discussed the agreement during their meeting in Brussels, with von der Leyen acknowledging Prabowo’s pivotal role in advancing the deal after more than a decade of talks. The CEPA marks a significant milestone in the economic relationship between Indonesia and the EU, demonstrating a commitment to a partnership based on trust, respect, and shared values. Prabowo emphasized the mutual benefits of the agreement, noting that economic interests between the two parties are complementary. The successful resolution of key issues by both negotiating teams paved the way for the agreement’s implementation phase, which Prabowo hopes will be signed in Brussels to symbolize the strength of the partnership.
