President Prabowo Subianto visited Saudi Arabia on July 2–3, 2025, to strengthen cooperation in enhancing services for Indonesian pilgrims during their Hajj and Umrah journeys. During the visit, the President met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. Both leaders expressed their appreciation for the Saudi government’s dedication to serving pilgrims from around the world, including those from Indonesia.
The meeting highlighted the close partnership between the two countries in ensuring the safety and comfort of Indonesian pilgrims during their religious activities. Discussions focused on improving and expanding services for Indonesian pilgrims in upcoming Hajj seasons, with a commitment to providing a seamless pilgrimage experience.
Alongside talks on Hajj-related matters, strategic agreements were made to strengthen bilateral relations. The Saudi–Indonesia Supreme Coordination Council, led by the Crown Prince and President Prabowo, aimed to boost cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and technology. Bilateral trade between the two countries has been substantial, reaching approximately USD 31.5 billion in the past five years.
Additionally, agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed to encourage private sector investments totaling around USD 27 billion. These investments are anticipated to generate job opportunities in Indonesia, especially in energy, industrial development, and sustainable technology sectors.
Both leaders also highlighted the significance of collaboration in the health sector, particularly in meeting the medical needs of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. Discussions included the advancement of pharmaceutical and vaccine industries as well as building the capacity of the health workforce.
On an international scale, President Prabowo and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated their commitment to supporting peaceful conflict resolutions in the region. They affirmed their endorsement for a two-state solution for Palestine and stressed the role of international humanitarian organizations in promoting peace and stability.
This visit showcased the deepening partnership between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia across various sectors, underscoring their joint efforts to improve services for Indonesian pilgrims and strengthen cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
